Hey everyone, I just found a solid deal on an iMac—21.5-inch, 2012 model with a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5. I plan to use it for music production, which seems to run better on iOS. The main concerns are its performance feeling a bit average, and my goal is to maximize its potential at the lowest cost. I’m thinking an SSD could help, more RAM would aid handling large sound files, and maybe upgrading the CPU (BRAIN) would make a difference. What do you all think? Looking forward to your ideas. Choosing an SSD should come first to boost performance and speed... Adding more RAM is also possible, and swapping an i5 for an i7 on an iMac can work well if you're prepared and have the right equipment (make sure to gather some suction cups!)

Yes, you can obtain any CPU once it becomes available in the same socket.
