Hello, I need to upgrade my HP Envy x360 Ew0xxx Series notebook from 8GB (2x4GB) to 32GB (2x16). The HP specs say the max is 16GB (2x8GB), but my system shows a capacity of up to 64GB. The CPU supports 64GB, so performance shouldn’t be an issue. I ran a command to check memory capacity and Crucial listed 64GB, though the model name differs slightly. My concern is whether exceeding the stated limit will cause problems later. Based on this info, I’m unsure if going beyond 16GB is safe. I recommend checking the official HP documentation or contacting support for confirmation.

It seems the maximum supported capacity is likely 16 GB, possibly the highest certified option they offered. There doesn’t appear to be a valid reason it wouldn’t function.

I'm certain the CPU can manage more than 16GB (Intel supports up to 64GB), but I'm curious about the motherboard. Model: HP 8A29 UEFI BIOS: Insyde F.31

As long as the SODIMMs are compatible, I believe the motherboard isn't a concern. Intel has been embedding the memory controller within the CPU for more than ten years.

I had the same concern too, mainly about potential future issues like blue screens. It makes sense why HP set a maximum of 16GB. Ultimately, I’m deciding to go with 2x16GB for safety. Thanks for your advice.
