You secured an OEM win 8.1 home key and upgraded to win 10. I’m checking if upgrading your motherboard will cause any problems. I’m familiar with the driver updates and can handle that myself. Do I need to reformat my drive? Will my copy lose its authenticity? Are there any other concerns I should know about? Thanks in advance for your help.

Currently replacing components is quite acceptable, a motherboard swap is similar to changing windows. Some say a chat with Microsoft support can assist if the issue persists.

Changing settings might disable your account. You can either 1) move to version 8.1, replace parts, and then go back to 10, or 2) change components and contact Microsoft support for activation.
