Hey there, I see you're dealing with some Wi-Fi issues on your Dell XPS 15 (9550). Sometimes the ping is really slow—like three seconds—or it just won't connect until you restart. You mentioned trying an older driver, which helped temporarily, but now you're unsure what to do next. You're thinking about upgrading to the PCIe E card, like the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265NGW, but there are some concerns. Some laptops have BIOS whitelists that might block certain cards, and you're not sure if the Dell 1830 is compatible. Also, the card size matters—your model uses a 3x3 PCIe slot while newer cards are usually 2x2. That could affect performance. I’d really appreciate your advice on this!

An important WIFI driver update was released this month and in December, which I believe has now been replaced. Consider updating drivers and resetting the networking card before swapping hardware.

The newest version for the 1830 was released on 24 November 2017. Your system appears to be current. Regarding the reset network card, it might refer to reinstalling the driver or clearing settings. I attempted a fresh installation from the latest driver on Dell’s site and via Windows Device Manager, but it didn’t resolve the issue. Appreciate your advice!
