Hey, I see you're looking for a good CPU for the FM2+ socket. Since you already have an older CPU and want to focus on upgrading your rig, consider the Ryzen 3 2200G as a solid choice within your budget. It should fit well and help improve overall performance. Let me know if you need more options! Thanks!

Keep your funds until you’re ready for the latest version. Avoid spending on outdated, restricted systems.

It seems you're considering upgrading your Athlon X4 840 to higher models. The price range you mentioned aligns with typical upgrade paths. You might want to plan for a complete system refresh rather than just the CPU.

Everyone agrees upgrading isn't a good idea. If you want something better, the A8-7600 costs about 50 dollars. The A8-6500 is roughly 45 dollars. The A8-5500 is around 35 dollars. Lower prices don’t seem worth it.

Sorry for bringing up an old discussion, I'm running a bit late. I was curious about the choice OP made in 2019 since my A6-6400K is similar and I'm thinking about moving to a FM2+ processor. What did you purchase for OP back then?

It was a poor decision in 2019, even more so in 2021. Pay attention to Skiiwii29.

I find myself in full agreement... But if you're really committed, look for an A10-7870K and stop trying.
