Upgrade your CPU for better performance.
Hey everyone, it's been a while since my last upgrade. I'm currently running an older i5 3570 with an RX 570, 16GB DDR3 RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 1TB HDD. My goal is to switch to a Ryzen/DDR4 configuration, so I'm looking for some advice. I'm planning to buy a motherboard, CPU, and RAM now, keeping the RX 570 as is. I was considering a Ryzen 3 3100 or 3300X, but I'm not sure if it's worth it since the Ryzen 5 2600 X is about $20 more. I also can't find a Ryzen 3 3300X locally. I live in Serbia, and here are the prices you mentioned. Maybe I'm mistaken, so I'd like suggestions—should I go for an i3 instead? Intel CPUs seem expensive in this region. AMD Ryzen 5 2600 is around $123-145 USD, while the 2600X is a bit more at $150-160. The 3100 and 3300X are pricier. What do you think?
It could happen a bit later due to the 8-core CCX setup, and if the lower-end Zen 3 model exists, availability will be restricted.
Sure, it makes sense to hold off a bit while new processors arrive and prices fall. As for the R5, it’s a bit pricier at $20 more, but if you’re focused on gaming, the R3 might still be worth it.
It seems the Ryzen 5 2600x performs better than the 2600 by about 10%, runs slightly quicker, and often allows higher overclocks.
