3900x appears to offer the optimal value right now. More cores usually mean a lower cost per core, yet this particular model seems to defy that trend.

I mean... Unfortunatly, it is the way it is. IPC and single core perfomances are just way more important. So, apart for frequencies, if you go from 3600 to 3900X, if you're just gaming : You won't have significative upgrades. Because it still Zen 2 cores. I think you have to give more details on specific use case to really chose the best CPU. Like for exemple : Light streaming / editing ( & really every productivity taskes you can think of ) but mustly gaming : 3600. Oftenly editing / streaming while gaming ( & really every productivity taskes you can think of ) : 3700X. Serious streaming / editing ( & really every productivity taskes you can think of ) ( if not pro ) while gaming : 3900X if not 3950X. I would just dismissed both 3600X and 3800X, which are poor value for bucks compared to their respective little bros 3600 and 3700X.
