Upgrade your CPU and motherboard for better performance.
Hello! For your setup, i7 8700 and MSI B360M Pro-VH are a solid choice. If you plan to use liquid cooling later, consider switching to an AMD or Intel CPU depending on your preference. Your current build is great for gaming, but the PC looks ready for study tasks. Check out your list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GwJkLs
You're looking to enhance your setup for better performance. The 8700 won't be the bottleneck if your graphics card is a 1060 with 6GB of VRAM.
I need to improve my performance because I'm limited by my GPU. Upgrading should focus on that component.
Are you thinking about using the GPU later? If yes, it might make sense to hold off on upgrading to a CPU as well. By the time GPUs reach a good stage again, DDR5 will be more advanced and you’ll have choices from both AMD and Intel. I agree with the experts. Your 8700 is sufficient for your 1060 6GB, and you won’t notice much difference between a 12600k or a 5600X. Just save some money now and add it to your budget for the next 6 to 12 months. You’ll discover you have many more possibilities then.
These scenarios seem to cover current options well. The 8700 offers similar performance to the 10400, possibly even slightly better, and it's unlikely anyone would advise upgrading the CPU for a 10400+1060 system for gaming. Are there any titles you believe are limited by their CPU?
Gpu, sure for later. Market will improve eventually. I'm living in Europe.
