I have a desktop from ten years ago that I'm considering upgrading. The case still looks solid, I have an 850W power supply, a decent SSD, and a GTX 1080. Recently I've been reading about new products and think I could upgrade to a better motherboard, CPU, and RAM for my needs. I also have an Oculus Rift and plan to do some 3D design printing. I was thinking of getting a Ryzen 7 3800 for around $500-600. I've checked various sites and Newegg combos but am curious what others think. I feel like this is the simplest solution. Thanks a lot!

The 3700x would likely match the performance of the 3800x while cutting costs by about 30 dollars. You've already spent around 300, leaving roughly 200 to 300 for the rest. I’d recommend the board at the link provided: https://www.amazon.com/ROG-Strix-X470-F-...B07C4PH429. Because it’s from Asus, you can expect solid quality and support. For RAM, either 16 GB or 32 GB would be good—32 GB is cheaper right now, so options under 32 GB are available: https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-2400MHz-P...B07P1ZVB51. More RAM means a more future-proof setup. Good luck with your build!
