Hello, I own a Windows 8 Pro copy from the DreamSpark (Microsoft) program at my university. I’m no longer enrolled, but I plan to upgrade to Windows 10? P.S. I’ve updated it to 8.1 with all the latest updates.

As long as it's a legitimate Windows copy, it should work perfectly.

However, I didn't receive the small pre-booking consideration.

Attempt to refresh and restart. I'm also using Windows 8.1 from the student Dreamspark account, and everything is functioning properly. No issues here.

It depends on what you mean by "doesn't change a thing." If you're referring to performance or features, Windows 8 Pro might not offer significant differences compared to newer versions. If you're talking about compatibility, older systems can still run basic software. Let me know for more details!

It seems the only options available are Pro and presumably another version.

The license remains active and applicable. The Dreampask agreement you accept when downloading free Windows or premium software from Dreamspark says you should discontinue use after leaving student status. Microsoft hasn’t enforced this rule, likely to allow you flexibility—like finding employment, settling down, and upgrading Windows at your own pace. I doubt they’d promote this, and it wouldn’t satisfy the company’s legal team.
