Upgrade to Windows 10 issues with GTA V and Steelseries Engine 2 crashes
After switching to Windows 10, I've encountered issues with certain applications. The list so far includes: GTA V – freezes after a few seconds in the launcher during loading; SteelSeries Engine 2 – crashes immediately; Zune – fails after the splash screen appears. It seems these programs all rely on Direct X for their graphical interface. My setup is Windows 10 Pro, upgraded from Windows 7 Professional. The hardware includes an MSI X99S SLI PLUS with an Intel i7-5820K, Corsair LPX 16GB at 2400MHz, Sapphire Fury graphics. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling SteelSeries Engine 2, disabling Crossfire, swapping Zune for Groove Music, and reinstalling GPU drivers (DDU). So far, only changing the Zune to Groove Music resolved the Zune crash. Unfortunately, I haven't managed to fix GTA V or SSE2.
MSI updates cause freezing after the GUI loads, Windows suggests ending the process later. MSI Command Center becomes stuck in endless loading.
It appears most of the tools you referenced use D3D9.DLL. Do you have MSI Afterburner with an on-screen display? If yes, consider this link: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=402616
Changed the global App Detection to "None" – great job! It fixed everything. Thanks for the help; I’d have spent a lot of time blaming the OS otherwise. Excited about early access to Ashes of the Singularity this week! Appreciate your support!
