Upgrade to version 10 and retain feature 7.
upgrading to windows 10 doesn't mean you have to abandon your windows 7 key. you can keep using it for compatibility and daily needs like media center, Xbox, and streaming. it won’t cost you money or break anything important. the main goal is to stay on a free platform while still getting access to newer features. just check if your software supports both versions and see what works best for you.
You can keep both operating systems as long as you have the Win7 disk. Your key remains valid. When upgrading to Win10, which may not be available as an ISO yet, you can split your drive so one partition stays on Win7 and the other on Win10. If previous upgrades worked, just partition, install 7, upgrade, then reinstall 7 on the other side. This should be straightforward.
I have a 240GB SSD and a 1TB SSD for everything else. I was thinking about splitting a bit of my 1TB SSD for storage or moving the 120GB SSD from my old MacBook, replacing the original HDD, and seeing how it affects performance. Also, I came across information today that if you have Preview installed, it should upgrade to the full version when it releases on Windows 7 or 8.
