From around ten models I’ve decided on these three. Please help me pick between them. I remember listing both B450 and B550, but I wanted to see which performs better in terms of performance per dollar. Here’s the intel for the 12th gen: GIGABYTE H410M H V3 (rev. 1.0) Maticna Ploca (124 KM) https://www.olx.ba/r/46271446/1769792 B450 b450m-k maticna am4 (99 KM) https://www.olx.ba/r/47181969/1769792 Matična ploča Biostar B550 MH (149,90 KM) https://www.olx.ba/r/43090491/1769792 The B450 is the most affordable here, so if it’s good enough I’d like to buy it.
Choose whatever you desire. The concept is that CPU power usage tends to increase with more cores. For AMD Ryzen chips, expect roughly 12-15 watts per core. A four-core unit should stay under about 50-60 watts, six cores can reach up to 80 watts, eight cores might hit 100-110 watts and beyond. The VRM connects the IO shield (where connectors and the socket are) and changes 12 volts into the voltage the processor needs. A VRM without heatsinks, such as in some "B450 b450m-k" boards, can overheat when paired with processors that draw over 80 watts. Upgrading to a CPU with more than six cores later could become challenging. Even a strong six-core processor may experience high temps, causing it to lower speeds and power use to cool itself, resulting in reduced performance. Heatsinks are essential to keep temps down and allow more cores to run efficiently. A fan blowing over the heatsink can further lower the temperature. Therefore, using heatsinks is advisable. Opt for a B450 chipset board for maximum flexibility and support for many processors. The Gigabyte B450M DS3H Wifi model is preferable over older versions. You can find it here: https://www.olx.ba/artikal/47008364/mati...ocket-am4/ or the updated version at https://www.olx.ba/artikal/40636175/giga...m-ds3h-v2/. This board would be ideal if it's still in stock and reasonably priced. If you're restricted to Ryzen 3100 or newer, consider A520 boards as well. The Gigabyte A520M-S2H is acceptable; it lacks a heatsink on the VRM but handles up to six cores well: https://www.olx.ba/artikal/44785277/gigabyte-a520m-s2h/.
Am5 will arrive in two months. Am4 has reached its final CPU, which isn't advisable since those are already near optimal for gaming. What I mean is the 4-core/8-thread processors. After the new consoles dominate, expect a significant increase in required CPU threads, pushing those older models further behind. That's why I'm suggesting an i3 12100 right now. Even though it's a 4-core/8-thread model, you can easily upgrade to higher configurations later, even on very affordable systems. Or you could grab a solid Ryzen CPU today. It's unclear, but BioStar hasn't been consistently producing quality products over the past ten years. What's your overall budget looking like? I think it's better to check complete setups or bundles rather than focusing on individual parts here. Just browsing shows some decent desktops at reasonable prices.
