Upgrade to a higher-end processor model
My current setup needs more RAM and better CPU performance. I learned that more threads help. I’m deciding between a Ryzen 7 3800X or a Ryzen 9 3900X upgrade. It will be cooled with Noctua NH-U12S, and I’ll run it stocked. Most of my purchases are made at Microcenter in the US. My plan includes: CPU choice, motherboard, RAM specs, and I’m avoiding an X570 due to its fan noise.
For gamers, it doesn't justify the upgrade. As a video enthusiast, it could make sense. Working with videos full-time might be worth it. For those earning a living from videos, go for 3900x—it's better than 3800x, which is just overpriced. If your setup needs more threads, 3900x is the only option I'd consider.
On each processor or several cores? A solid board works once the BIOS is updated, which requires an older CPU (1xx or 2xx models). You might obtain one via AMD's bootkit tool, or the retailer could handle it for you; otherwise, a 3xx CPU won't fit. This explains why BIOS flashback matters so much—on the X470 only compatible boards are available on the Crosshair VII Hero, MSI M7, and Gigabyte Gaming 7.
