I’m planning to replace my current i5-10400 with a newer CPU since it’s struggling with BeamNG traffic. I’m curious about the performance boost from switching to an AM5 chipset—it seems like a solid long-term choice. Would a 7600X offer more improvement than upgrading to a 7700X? I’m also wondering if the jump to DDR5 memory (4x 8GB at 4800MHz) would be worth the investment. I’m currently using 16GB of DDR4 2666 RAM and expect to upgrade to 32GB of DDR5 4800CL40. I’m not sure how online benchmarks compare to real-game results, so I thought sharing my experience here would help. Thanks!

I wouldn't be interested unless it's solely for gaming. The 7600 non x would suit you as it offers similar performance to a 7600x without the intense heat or high power draw. The 7600 is still a solid option though. What's your budget looking like? Consider this example build. You might even reduce costs. PCPartPicker lists these components. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 3.8 GHz 6-core ($218.61 on Amazon) CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM ($34.90 on Amazon) Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX ATX AM5 ($219.99 on Amazon) RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-5600 CL28 ($93.99 on Newegg) Overall: $567.49 Includes shipping, taxes, and available discounts. At 1080p the 7600 offers about a 20% boost in speed, while 1440p provides roughly a 15% increase in average FPS during games. The most noticeable improvement comes from the 1% lower frame rates appearing more fluid. For gaming, the 7600 delivers solid performance—no issues reported.

Thanks! I’m looking for a setup around £230 max, no strict budget. I don’t care about the exact motherboard type—just something with at least two or three M.2 slots. I’ve got a parts list ready, and I’d love some suggestions. If possible, getting a new CPU would be best, but I’m open to used options to save about £40. I’m also selling an old switch, so staying under £200 would be perfect.

The total cost for the upgrade is around 230 dollars. That’s roughly 210 pounds, but you should confirm if you already own the RAM, motherboard, and 7600X before adding the remaining funds.

I'm unsure about the details. Planning to upgrade to a new motherboard and RAM, aiming for a 7600x used if possible. Added it as a custom part on PCPartPicker. Budget is around £230 for the board and RAM, with a CPU costing about £200 from selling my switch. Included a cooler in the list, but likely will stick with my current one unless I sell the board and CPU together. Also thinking about adding 16GB RAM now and again later when selling games. Should I invest in an ATX motherboard for extra features or opt for a cheaper mATX? Also curious about the difference between non-X and X models, and whether using PBO would match performance. Yes, you'd achieve comparable gaming results regardless. Try this setup—PCPartPicker's recommended parts list for an ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 Micro ATX AM5 motherboard and G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32GB DDR5 memory. Total cost around £244.71 with all fees included. Created by PCPartPicker on October 3, 2023.

Thanks in advance! I think I'll use that RAM and check out the motherboard as well.
