Upgrade to 3600 or 5600x resolution
Hello! I'm considering switching from a Ryzen 5 1600 Ab350 mini-ITX to a Ryzen 3600. The new model is cheaper and available right now, while my current setup costs around $199 for the upgrade. My board is still compatible with the 5600x, but I’m weighing the benefits of waiting versus the price difference. Also, how does the 3600 compare to its original MSRP in value? Let me know your thoughts!
If a BIOS update drops at 3600, I’d choose that option for $199—it’s still a good value. If you have $450 to spend, the 5600x offers better speed. However, it’s more than twice as fast, so if you need that extra performance, go with the 3600 and save up.
Sure, I can do that too. Selling my 1600 could bring in about $90 to $100, which would be a nice step up to $100.
If you manage to obtain a 5600X, go for it! (I've been waiting on the preorder list for a whole month now) You'll likely need a motherboard upgrade—your B-350 won't work with the Ryzen 5000. Consider getting a B-450, B-550, X-470, or X-570 instead. You might have to modify the BIOS settings on a 4** to make either processor run.
