Upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 10 via the Windows Upgrade would have updated your product key to one compatible with Windows 10.

No, it isn't the same number. To find the difference, subtract the smaller value from the larger one.

The same product key will be used. If you don’t have it, install an app named 'Magic Jelly Bean' which will reveal your Windows activation key.

Reinstalling on the identical motherboard eliminates the requirement for the key, and it will turn on automatically when connected to the internet.

Your Windows 10 setup should be linked to your Microsoft account. You probably won’t need a physical key.

The key is set up for both versions. Just install 10 and turn it on if needed.
