You're still unsure whether it's worth it. I'm using my PC for both work and gaming, mainly in 4K, with a 7950X paired with a 5090 Astral GPU. Would pairing it with a 9950X3D improve FPS? Also, there are rumors about problems with the 9950X3D because its 3D cache is on just one CCD, which might cause some stuttering. How much should you worry about this? Thanks for your thoughts!

I’m working on my PC for both work and gaming. If productivity tasks are what keep you fed and sheltered, go with the X3D upgrade. It speeds up handling your duties.

The issue with the x3D cache being limited to only one CCD is resolved through BIOS and Windows updates. It now functions correctly. Most benefits come from games. At high resolutions, the GPU plays a bigger role; your 7950x should easily handle high-end GPUs. Even with more cache spread across all cores, adding 3D cache has minimal impact.

Accounting for some unusual stuttering can be avoided by updating the BIOS and chipset driver to the newest version, and setting "CPPC" to 'driver' in BIOS. It's advised to use MSI Afterburner to observe how the workload is handled during gaming, making it simple to verify if the chipset driver is functioning properly.
