I recently bought the Ryzen 7700 + Thermalright AXP120-X67 BLACK ARGB Low Profile MSI b650m gaming plus wifi. It comes with 32 gb (2 x 16 gb) Gskill ddr5 ram (with RGB if that matters). When trying to boot, I see the CPU and DDR light on the motherboard but nothing appears, and I can't access BIOS. Removing one RAM stick resolves the issue, though it may take a bit longer. I've updated the BIOS to the latest version. I've tested both RAM sticks separately and they work fine individually in all slots. Could this be related to a power problem? The motherboard has two 8 pin power connectors for the CPU, but I'm only using one, which didn't seem necessary.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Are you referring to the GS800 instead? How long has this unit been around and what role did it play during its lifespan?
The motherboard features two 8-pin power connectors for the CPU, but I only use one—didn’t realize it was necessary.
If you’re missing connectors for your components, then you might have the incorrect PSU or mismatched parts. In that case, you should’ve upgraded to a suitable PSU while upgrading your platform.

Are you using a single memory module or two separate ones?
Matching pairs will function correctly together.
Combining memory, even of the same kind, isn't always compatible with DDR4 or DDR5.

Yeah, it's the Gs800 model – thanks for the reply. I'm starting to consider replacing it since I used a Ryzen 5 2600 B450 about six years ago.

Which BIOS version is your board running?
What specific memory modules are included?
Ryzen compatibility improves with each BIOS release.
Make sure this matches your exact board model.
Proceed with their instructions to upgrade to the most recent BIOS file.

The power supply is close to its end of life, but it should still start up and function properly.
However, I think it’s better to swap it out, though that’s my personal view.
This power supply is crucial for a reliable system.
GS was a mid-range model, so it should shut down safely like mine did. But over time, a protection circuit might fail, risking your new purchase.
What do you think?

I verified the RAM clock speed was adjusted to 6000, which was too high for the 7700 (a minor mistake on my part). I reduced it to 5200 and it now starts properly with both sticks.
