Hello Everyone New member of this site. I find Linus his youtube videos very helpful so I hope to find some help here as well. I have a MSI GT72VR 6RE dominator pro with 8 GB of ram memory and from watching video's it seems it should be quite easily to add another 8 memory. Now this would be the first time I have ever changed anything to a computer so I want to be sure I'm doing it right. This is a link to my laptop for more information: https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GT72VR-6RE-Do...cification. My first question is which unit should I buy. Now I know it says ddr4 but does the brand o matter, are there subsets in between ddr4 or is there something else I should look out for? My second question is, Since I have 8 GB of ram, does that mean I need to buy another piece of 8 ram memory or is it okay if it's a different amount? An honest thank you in advance to everyone for the help.

Welcome to the world of tech experimentation. To address your points clearly: 1. Choose a brand that suits you, but focus on the specifications rather than the name. 2. Pay attention to your memory's speed—like DDR4-2400, which means 2400 MHz. Try to align it with your current setup if you intend to keep the existing stick. 3. It’s wise to add another 8GB stick with similar speed. A 16GB unit works well for gaming these days, unless you plan video editing, in which case extra capacity isn’t essential. If you need more, consider replacing both sticks at once for better performance. Here’s a reliable link to upgrade your memory: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatibl...-pro-tobii. That should help you out.
