Upgrade OptiPlex 390 to Xeon processors

I'm looking for a way to upgrade your Dell OptiPlex 390 with the i5 2500 to a Xeon E3 1240 V2. The question is whether you can install a FCLGA1155 processor on an OEM LGA1155 board. Let me know if you'd like some guidance on this. I don’t have enough budget for an i7 at the moment.

I own a 390 with the newest BIOS, but the Ivy Bridge CPUs aren’t functioning properly. It’s best to avoid the V2 chips. Likely, I shouldn’t consider upgrading to an i7 or xeon if the improvement isn’t substantial.

Optiplex 390 BIOS lacks compatibility with third-generation (Ivy Bridge) processors. Older Sandy Bridge E3-1240 models should function properly.

The newer 3010 is required for Ivy Bridge support. Which applications are you running? You might want to hold onto the CPU until the entire system is upgraded.

I mainly use it for tasks such as creating files and doing online research. However, I also play games late at night with my siblings. It's not as important for work, but upgrading is necessary for better gaming performance. Upgrading would interfere with my work.
