Upgrade old RAM to a new system?
Hello, I'm working on upgrading my PC. I have some questions about my old setup. In my previous build, I had a 1 stick RAM HX421C14FB/16 with 16GB, 2G, 64-bit DDR4-2133 CL14, 288-pin DIMM. Now I'm installing a new build with an X570, Aorus Pro WIFI motherboard, and RYZEN 5 5600X. My main concern is whether I should keep the old RAM or upgrade to two 8GB modules at 3200MHz. Also, what percentage improvement would I see compared to the old setup? Thanks a lot!
It should function, but I recommend selling it online and purchasing a 2x8GB, 3200MHz RAM.
The 5600X accommodates up to 128 GiB of dual-channel DDR4-3200 RAM. I recently upgraded from the 2133 Patriot Viper to the RGB Corsair Pro SL 3200, and I’m observing that my gaming menu transitions are more noticeable now. This suggests that anything above 3200 is mainly for rendering or extra overhead. I’m really pleased with the change, and I’m very satisfied with my purchase.
