Hi, I’m planning to increase my laptop’s memory from 4 GB to 8 GB on a Toshiba Sattelite L50-B. The device is getting a bit outdated, but with the new SSD and RAM upgrade, it should last about two more years. I’m wondering how to discover the maximum MHz your motherboard can support. Remove the previous RAM and install a model with comparable specifications.

Even with faster speeds, the motherboard will stick to 2400MHz if it's DDR4.

DDR3 1600 MHz (two 798.4 MHz chips). Any setup will work. If you have two slots, get a kit—it’s the simplest option.
