I plan to set up Windows 10 Pro on my new machine. It seems installing from scratch is preferable over an upgrade. Can I use my Windows 8.1 Pro activation key to get Windows 10 Pro activated?

It's not.Just upgrade because you know why?It saves everything you had on 8.1 and just changes stuff like layout and adds some stuff. There is no difference between clean install and upgrade The only way you can clean install is by buying a key

It should function properly. Please hold on a few days before it resolves; I upgraded yesterday and encountered multiple issues.

Upgrade your key to ensure smooth installation, which works well for most users

You have the option to upgrade while leaving nothing behind, followed by a disk cleanup afterward.

Start with the upgrade, ensure Windows 10 activation is complete. Afterward, perform a clean installation using the 10240 build CD key for optimal activation.
