Hello everyone, I’m looking to improve my old i3 2100 PC. It’s really outdated! Here are the specs: i3 2100 (2C 4T) GT 710, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 8GB DDR3 memory (one HyperX 4GB and one Kingston 4GB 500GB HDD, WD BLUE 5400 RPM), 400W PSU from Balling, Gigabyte motherboard with LGA 1155. My CPU has a broken heatsink, but it’s fixed with hot glue.

I want to play Fortnite smoothly at 60 FPS on low to medium settings with full resolution. I’m thinking about upgrading either the GPU or the CPU. My budget is around Rs. 2500 or about 32 USD. I’m just a 14-year-old Indian with limited computing knowledge. Any suggestions?

That sounds expensive. Only the worst options would be cheap, right?

This situation makes it really tough to suggest an older GPU since they need significant power and cost more. I recommend putting aside more savings instead, edited June 19, 2020 by TofuHaroto

Why not upgrade with some fresh fans for better performance? You mentioned a tight budget and the broken fan legs, so maybe investing in new ones would help.

For better results in the future, avoid using hot glue around delicate electronics.

The Gamer STG, have you checked eBay for CPUs such as an Xeon processor? If not, or they don’t fit your budget, consider saving more—those prices won’t justify the upgrade.
