You might want to switch to AM5 if the current motherboard is damaged. It’s a worthwhile upgrade despite the higher cost, as it ensures better performance and compatibility with future components.

It depends on how soon you plan to replace your processor. AMD expects AM5 to last until at least 2025, suggesting more than two CPU generations. Upgrading within the next year or two would likely be wise. If you're satisfied with your current chip and won't upgrade to AM6, it might be best to stay put. What model are you using right now, and what would interest you?

Checking what you're switching from and reviewing the remaining system details. It could be a good move based on your current setup, though the cost of just swapping the motherboard might not be justified.

I'm using the 5950x now, but I'm not sure which motherboard to choose. I haven't had much success with AORUS and I'm still trying to figure out the best AORUS B550 Elite option.

You have a solid CPU setup with a 5950X and 3080, paired with 32GB RAM. The Aorus B550 Elite is a decent choice, though you might have had mixed feelings about it from the start. Your opinion aligns with what others have shared.
