Checking if a network card fits into a PCI-E slot with 802.11ac or newer support on a Windows 7 PC seems possible. Even with the built-in card, I’ve used it nonstop for years without problems. My setup includes an HP Pavilion HPE H8-1203 that’s fully stocked. I upgraded my home Wi-Fi router to something more recent and plan to switch to a model supporting 802.11ax for future needs. I discovered my current card can’t handle 5GHz channels, so I’m looking into options to boost the PC’s network performance. I’m cautious about adding new adapters since compatibility with Windows 7 isn’t guaranteed. Any advice or research would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need more details!

I’ve enjoyed working with TP-Link AC cards on Windows 7 before. This one is available for $26 and performed well in my setup, connecting through the full 300Mbps signal from two rooms on the 5GHz band.
