Recently, after almost half a year delaying, I finally installed my new Samsung 990 Pro 4TB NVMe. Previously, I relied on a basic WD Blue M.2 SATA SSD capped at 1TB for booting, which I was anxious about. It turns out my second M.2 slot only supports PCIe drives—not SATA—something I hadn’t realized existed. Yet, perhaps my subconscious picked up on this and I had unknowingly bought a JEYI Dual M.2 PCIE 4.0 Adapter for under $5 months ago. The installation went smoothly after hours of adjusting BIOS settings. Now I’m ready to move forward—but I know things could get tricky. I plan to clone my main C: drive using Macronis and boot from the new SSD, but I’m unsure if I should format the old drive and rename it with a tool like MiniTool Partition Wizard. That seems too simple, and I’m worried about making mistakes. Any guidance would be invaluable. Also, if anyone has tips on migrating many games to a single partition without reinstalling each one, I’d really appreciate it. It’s not urgent, but I’d like better organization. Thanks in advance!

Consider trying to copy your existing boot disk to the new SSD before formatting the old one. This approach keeps Windows and your apps functioning normally while switching platforms. I followed this method when upgrading from an HDD to a SATA SSD and faced no issues. You appear to be in a stronger position since the new drive is significantly larger.
