There could be minor side effects. In Windows 7 this adjustment slightly increased boot time. Likely due to registry entries still referencing the old name. After the change, using a reliable registry editor such as Registry Workshop helps replace the old name with the new one, which usually resolves the issue. I didn't experience any performance drop in Windows 10.
