I've attempted updates before as well, changing the BIOS to F39. Yesterday I tried F40, hoping it would work, but it didn't. Checksum matches in QFlash and on the website. After flashing the BIOS onto the motherboard, fans started spinning up, motherboard lights turned on, and after a brief period graphics card fans shut down. However, CPU and chassis fans connected via motherboard headers stayed at full speed. I left it like this for 10-15 minutes. I've cleared CMOS before and after flashing, booted with just one RAM stick, and used a 5900X and 5700X3D. Using BIOS flashback, going back to F36 or F37 restarts the board, but newer versions don't. Any suggestions on what might be wrong? I'd prefer a newer BIOS due to the AGESA updates. Perhaps I haven't tried flashing the new BIOS using the board's BIOS flashback feature.
Did a CPU remain connected during the F37 flash? If not, re-flash F37. After that, you should be able to proceed with flashing F39 and then F40b.
Remove all external components, including SATA. Reset CMOS and Flash F37 once more. Ignore using F30 since it's the earliest BIOS supporting 5700x3d. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X57...upport-cpu
Dual Bios is trying to trick you. Please use Gigabyte (at)bios @Bios to refresh the secondary Bios as well.
It looks like the system boots only when the graphics card is removed. Once it's back in, it won't start. I'm considering flashing the BIOS to F37 and using the @Bios, but it doesn't seem to help. The machine remains unresponsive as long as the graphics card is inside. I don't have another card to test, so it's unclear what to do next.
Took a GT710 with F40b chip, it works well there. But struggles with the 3090. F37 functions properly on the 3090. Unclear why this happens. Limited room to test the 3090 in another slot. When it started up in F40b, it seemed PBO options were enabled, which aren’t present on the F37. Disappointing.
I managed to get a fresh vbios for my graphics card while it was running the F2. The gigabytes tool didn’t work, so I resorted to using nvflash. It looks like the other bios weren’t compatible, so I had to flash them too.
