I’m using an Asus Z87-K board with an Intel i7-4770 processor and 16GB of RAM. It’s time to upgrade, so I’d like some guidance on what to purchase. Since I’m not a gamer, my PC is mainly for everyday tasks like browsing the web, checking email, using MS Office, streaming video, and listening to music. I also rely on a Synology NAS for backups. I prefer sticking with Intel and Asus products, but I have no idea what the best upgrade package would be. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

The PSU might also require a replacement.
Given your current setup with DDR3, any upgrade should also involve RAM.
Swapping out the case fans and CPU cooler would be beneficial. The heatsink could be reused if you have the correct motherboard, though CPU coolers are affordable enough for an LGA1700 Intel cooler or the standard one.
You’re likely using a SATA hard drive or SSD. Modern systems feature M.2 NVMe drives. You might clone it onto a new drive, but success isn’t guaranteed. A fresh Windows 11 installation seems to be the optimal choice.
Beyond the chassis, reusing the old storage for additional space isn’t necessary.
I regularly use an i3-12100 which is essentially the same as your current model but significantly improved and faster. An i3-13100 would offer even better performance. If you need more than equivalent speed, opting for an i5-12400 or 13400 will provide six cores instead of four. An i7 model could be considered, with the 12700K offering good value.

Do you have a budget?
Identify the make and model of each component.
It might be possible to reuse some items.
