Hello everyone, I’m planning to switch my motherboard, CPU, and RAM from Intel (i5-4590) to AMD (R5 3600). I saw some suggestions on YouTube about formatting the boot drive and reinstalling Windows to avoid driver conflicts. Is that advice accurate? Or can I skip those steps by simply removing all Intel and Asus-related items from my control panel?

It's accurate. For significant platform updates, a clean installation is advisable since conflicts may lead to instability and crashes.

It's often accurate, serving as a safety measure. Still, it sometimes functions smoothly without problems. I upgraded from an i5 6400 to a 3900x in a few weeks; connected the old hard drive and Windows launched, immediately showing a noticeable shift as it began a low-res setup or similar alert. Once that was done, Wi-Fi (thanks to the new motherboard) required drivers, so I used another machine to install them via USB; after that, networking worked without any further setup—Windows recognized the network automatically. Then I downloaded additional drivers from the web and everything was resolved. No issues or crashes occurred during gaming, compilation, or 4K video editing. Checking Device Manager confirmed all new hardware with no remnants of the old board. I thought it might fail dramatically, but reading other discussions suggested Windows could adapt now. So I tried it; luckily it worked. That said, reinstalling SSDs in Windows can take 5 to 10 minutes, so having that option is always handy. (Note: My version is retail, not OEM.)
