It seems the latest updates will likely include X3D booting, but won’t make the most of the improved cache. I’ll probably wait a few weeks to check if the release comes through, since it looks like it will fully use the X3D features on the B450.

Thank you for your patience and for clarifying the situation. It seems MSI is planning to release a BIOS update 1.2.0.7 that should resolve the issue. I might be able to upgrade to version 1.2.0.5, but it would only partially benefit me since it wouldn’t fully utilize the cache. I’ll probably wait until May to install the new BIOS.

This depends on whether the chip model’s microcode is included in the BIOS. The BIOS uses microcode to recognize the chip, understand its identity and functionality. Those who modified BIOS back then would add microcode from other boards to match their needs. They also adjusted ROM sip tables to improve RAM performance by using faster timing variables. This practice was common on boards like Gigabyte or Asus, especially around Socket 939, when they replaced original ROM sip tables with updated versions from DFI LanParty for better compatibility. In short, support hinges on the presence of the correct microcode in any relevant BIOS file.
