Updates to the streaming service
Hey everyone, I'm exploring streaming more and noticed many games are struggling. I think FPS might drop a bit, but CPU usage is becoming a concern. Are there affordable upgrades you can make to reduce the load while streaming? My current setup includes an i5-4690K, a GTX 960 SSC with 2GB VRAM, Z97 gaming 5, a 8GB RAM motherboard, and a 5GB SSD. I’m wondering if there are any quick fixes I can apply right away, especially regarding RAM or the GPU.
Uncertain about the budget, but I’m confident you can find a great 970 for roughly 300 to 350 dollars.
Running Xeon E3 1231v3 with NVENC is recommended, but the 960 core will continue to face challenges.
Turn on your built-in graphics and switch to quicksync instead of nvenc. Even though quicksync doesn’t match the visual quality of nvenc or h.264, it won’t consume any active resources. You’ll get a dedicated processor for encoding.
You might want to check your OBS configuration for any adjustments that could affect its behavior.
Navigate to preferences, proceed to encoding, and choose nVidia NVENC within the encoder section.
