Recent updates from Nvidia now include DLSS compatibility in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Yet the game remains without this feature. Are there any reports about a future patch for Steam?
Not that i know of. Either way, every card that would support DLSS can easily run this game. I don't really see a point for it. Are you sure they didn't mean the newer "Shadow of the Tomb Raider"?
You want a stable 144fps at 1440p on your 2060 Super, especially since the game drops to around 90fps when you crank up the graphics.
This could be my initial 8k title... *glances away* Performance smooths out at high resolutions and medium settings in 4k without issues (60 locked frame rate). Are you using dx12? That resolved the stuttering for me. Honestly, it’s good to hear an update is coming if Nvidia adds support.
The difference between 90 and 144 fps won't be noticeable in this game. It's not strictly tied to every millisecond of lag, and smooth animation drops off quickly after 90Hz. Regardless, the higher the frame rate, the better it is. More games offering this will be preferable. If they add it to Rise, they should also update the SOTR code for DLSS 2.0. It would be odd if the older version still runs the newer DLSS version. I'd think the fix should appear within the next few days if Nvidia rolls it out.
I'm using DX12 and the problem lies with my graphics card not handling 1440p at 144fps smoothly. It's consistently stuck around 95% or higher. Even when I set it to 144fps, performance drops significantly—utilization falls to about 60% over time, and the game even lowers its clock speed. The main concern isn't the low frame rate itself but the frequent dips. I've thought about capping it at 100fps, but if DLSS is available, that would be better. I'm hoping support will arrive soon, or I might just lower the cap for more stability.
It also has demanding options in ROTT, such as "ray tracing" which doesn't rely on the Nvidia ray tracing solution... and four times "super sampling" (I might have missed the name). With DLSS you should achieve around 144fps, though that number feels odd—I’d rather have 120fps.
It's the refresh rate I use on my screen. For a game like Rise, I could go that speed too. Extra speed doesn't really help much. But I might start slower since my monitor supports both GSync and FreeSync Premium. I could begin at 120fps, then lower to 100, maybe that's sufficient.
I recently switched from 60Hz to 144Hz monitor. It doesn’t really stand out much in most games I play, though I’m not a first-person shooter fan. Around 90 frames should work well for most non-FPS titles, especially with Freesync enabled.
