Hey there. Your BIOS version is 2.15.1227. Everything else seems fine—gpu, RAM, and storage are working. The screen goes black every 40 minutes for about two seconds, and at the end of the last blackout it shows old TV static. Your keyboard and mouse also lose power when the screen goes dark. When you held the W key just before it went black, pressing any button resolved the problem. It looks like the issue might be related to the CPU or the MB drive. Updating the BIOS could help, but it might not fix everything if the core hardware is faulty.

It seems unlikely the BIOS is the problem since it’s been stable for years on an Ivy Bridge system. My most likely thought is the motherboard is beginning to fail.

It makes sense. I'm checking the bios since I got the motherboard and CPU from a friend recently. He mentioned that updating old Intel CPUs can either ruin it or solve problems you might have. You're probably wondering why you went ahead with the purchase despite his warning. That's because I wanted to upgrade my RAM, and I thought switching from an i4 760k to an i5 3470 would be a big improvement given the bottleneck I was facing. Thanks for confirming my concerns.

That would definitely be a significant improvement over a 760k. I’m hoping the price was reasonable compared to a used Ryzen AM4 setup, since the performance boost would be substantial. For BIOS updates, it should be fine as long as your power supply is reliable in your area.

Well, my friend provided me with the mainboard basically for free, while DDR4 is significantly pricier. A used Ryzen 5 AM4, all in one package, has an old feel, questionable background, and only comes around 140 euros. When I upgraded to something better—just a bit broken for under 30 euros—I realized I’m still a student with no funds. I wouldn’t have upgraded until next summer. My RAM failed instead of crashing or letting the SSD handle heavy loads, so the game just restarted, making titles like Witcher 3 or Monster Hunter World impossible to play. That’s unacceptable. Not the low frame rates and drops from the bottleneck, but a really outdated CPU for what I was doing at the time.
