Hey everyone, I’m planning a Ryzen 3950X build with my 980Ti GPU and am trying to figure out RAM specs. This is my first time joining Team Red, and I’m a bit confused about why RAM prices vary so much. For example, some 16GB sticks at 3600MHz cost more than others—different speeds and CLs, but not much in price difference. I’m aiming for 32GB and want the Corsair Vengeance RGB series. I was thinking of option 1 because it’s made for AMD X570 and looks reasonably priced compared to option 3, but I don’t fully understand why RAM costs such a lot. I want to avoid overspending just for the sake of it.

Here’s what I need:
- Build wishlist link
- All DDR4 RAM options on PCCASEGEAR

I’m still trying to wrap my head around this and hope I pick the right RAM without extra cost.

Looking for 3600mhz memory modules with timing specs of 16-16-16. These offer noticeable speed improvements. Higher clock speeds mean lower latency, resulting in quicker read and write operations.

Hi Mate, If you can stretch, the CL16 PC3600 delivers top performance with XMP settings and avoids pushing the infinity fabric too hard unless needed. Also, opt for a Gen 4 SSD like the Corsair Force Series MP600—it's much quicker and more affordable compared to the Samsung model with a PCIe Gen4 board. Plus, it’s from Corsair, which makes sense!

I completely missed the fact that the M.2 slot supports PCIe Gen4 – that’s totally logical! For RAM, this model seems to offer the top performance; feel free to adjust it or enable XMP if you wish.

Hi Mate, I believe using XMP for 2133Mhz will work well (maybe even consider buying some!). I haven’t overclocked memory on the new Ryzen yet—I have a 3900x—but the specs suggest it should be straightforward with that memory since they claim "4600Mhz+" as well. As always, YMMV YKMV (we’re using metric after all). Cheers!
