Updated processor and BIOS installed, but system fails to start in BIOS mode.
Hello, I recently saved some funds to upgrade my computer. I did some research, not a tech enthusiast, and with my friend's help, I figured everything would fit and that the motherboard I own would work with the Ryzen 5 5600 I purchased. I hadn't updated my BIOS before, so I discovered I needed to reach version f62 (the only option listed on pcpartpicker). After updating to f62, I thought I was all set, so I installed the new PSU, GPU, and CPU. Once everything was in place, it powered on and opened the "American Megatrends" menu, which I assumed meant my upgrade succeeded smoothly. I pressed the delete key, but nothing happened. I was confident I did it correctly, yet I couldn't boot into Windows or access the BIOS. My friend suggested updating my chipset drivers, but I couldn't find any relevant information beyond articles confirming that my x470 ultra gaming motherboard would work. I don’t have thermal paste on hand, so I’m hesitant to reinstall it without a clear answer. Gigabyte claims the 5000 series CPUs are compatible, though they specify only 3rd generation and earlier models work. I’m unsure if I made an error in thinking my current setup would function or if I need to replace the motherboard entirely. I don’t know how important other components are, but here’s a quick list: Ryzen 5 2600x, GeForce RTX 4060, x470 Aorus Ultra Gaming. I’ve lost my RAM and will try to respond quickly if anyone needs more info. Thanks for any advice!
Initially, you didn't upgrade to the newest release, which is F64a. The current version is more than a year past its bio update, and based on what I found, you require at least AGESA 1.2.0.6. The F62 update only supports AGESA 1.2.0.5. Updating to the latest version should resolve the issue.
Honestly, I didn’t realize the importance of those details. Thanks for clarifying the AGESA version needed for the 5600.
