Ladies and gentlemen, I recently assembled a new computer and when I press the power button I hear a click followed by a faint fan noise attempting to start, but nothing happens. There are no lights, no additional fans, and no other components are operational. The build includes an MSI X670 gaming plus Wi-Fi, AMD 7900X3D 64 GB RAM, 6400 DDR5 ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 MSI 4090, a 1200 Watt power supply, and I double-checked the CPU pins, orientation, cooler, RAM, and all power connections. Despite my efforts, I’m still stuck and would greatly appreciate assistance.
It seems there might have been an issue with the power supply itself, particularly the small click sound. To avoid problems, ensure you're using the original cables provided with the power supply. If you obtained different cables from another site like cablemods, switch to those. Otherwise, consider replacing the power supply and verify its compatibility.
The power source came from an older machine and functioned properly there. After disconnecting all connections, I transferred it to a newer computer.
I’d likely take apart the entire system and remove all parts, including testing a boot from just the motherboard, CPU, RAM, SSD, and power supply like they’re on top of the board. If you think your PSU is fine, there could be issues in the case, motherboard, or cables. You might also try unplugging everything and checking for bent metal on the IO shield, or test the USB ports by touching the back of the motherboard.
Hey, you were on the right track. I didn’t locate my two CPU cables, so I switched to a PCI-E (6 pin split) cable for the two 6 pin connections on the motherboard, which caused the problem. It seems the CPU cables have a different pin configuration than the ones I used. After replacing the cables, the computer started working properly. Thanks for your assistance!
