Updated motherboard featuring 8-pin connectors

01-06-2020, 06:31 AM #1Hi Everyone. I swapped my old mainboard using an 1x4 pin cable for the ASUS RogStrix X570 gaming board. It has both an 8-pin and a 4-pin connector. The manual says it needs at least one 8-pin power cable. From my cougar 750 I have two separate 4-pin CPU cables. Should I connect both together side by side, or do I need an adapter to combine the two 4-pins into one 8-pin? Also, my power supply is 750W and I’m running a Ryzen 9 5900X—definitely a beginner in PC building, so any tips would be greatly appreciated

01-18-2020, 09:01 AM #6Using an outdated power supply could endanger your new equipment. With such components as a $300 motherboard, $500 CPU, and $800 GPU, it's best not to risk damage. A modern PSU is far more affordable than the alternatives. I'm here to help you avoid additional problems.

01-18-2020, 02:41 PM #7I assumed it wouldn’t be a big problem because it mainly changes the power output. I believed as long as it satisfies the power needs, it’s fine. If that’s true, do you have any suggestions? The setup includes: 2080 Zotac, Amp Extreme, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, Asus ROG Strix X570, all air cooled.
