Hi. I’ve managed to get by with my life and understand why Alienware R desktops can be so frustrating (the first and last time I got anything from them was a nightmare!). They kept asking for updates for about a year, which made me irritated. Once things slowed down, I noticed strange behavior: the desktop would randomly crash into a BSOD (blue screen of death), sometimes when idle and other times while browsing, but never in games yet. After the BSOD, it would reset my overclock profile—safe settings only, no changes to CPU or GPU clocks—I just set everything to auto with a 75°C GPU limit and 3200 RAM clock. It’s basically reverting to the default overclock profile. Then any overclock attempts just shut down completely. I have to return to the Alienware Command Center, pick my profile again, and restart. Now the desktop can also power off unexpectedly when I press 'Sleep' instead of entering sleep mode. The screen goes dark and everything stops. I know how sleep works—I was set to hybrid mode so I could stay productive. After this, the overclock resets randomly, sometimes turning off entirely. Please help me out! Also, the latest BIOS update isn’t installing properly.

Reviewed the drivers using IOBit Driver Booster. Is there a way to update the BIOS via the BIOS itself?

I checked through iobit and noticed the Alienware updates are still listed (though I won’t share more). It looks like it’s entering sleep mode properly. No blue screens have appeared so far.

System continues to power down upon shutdown, though it occurs unpredictably—approximately once every three attempts, typically.
