She got a new webcam for her MacBook Pro via an Insta360 Link. The app functions properly, capturing video without problems. But when using OBS, the webcam appears as a video source yet won’t activate. Facetime also fails to recognize it. The properties window shows normal settings initially, but after launching OBS again, everything stops working. It seems some unknown software might be interfering and forcing the camera to sleep. I’m unsure which program is causing this issue.

It appears many users face the same problem with this webcam. They suggest updating the firmware, though the company insists it wasn’t built for recording. That explanation feels odd and inconsistent.

I still have some doubts about this setup. The camera won’t connect via FaceTime, which isn’t ideal for a typical webcam use. I’ll check the firmware update next.

I hope I could identify what fixed the issue. It wasn't the firmware nor simply restarting the device. In its present form, adjusting the input in OBS and reverting it to webcam mode seems to resolve the problem. That should be sufficient, right?
