New to the forum here, so I am sorry if I miss something, but I need some help. I got a new MSI b550 gaming carbon wifi motherboard and an AMD Ryzen 5 5600x that i cannot get to post. I have tried flashing the bios, but it never seems to have worked. There is an activity light that flashes on the motherboard while it is doing the bios flash and will turn off when it's done, but it never turned off. It blinked for hours. Eventually, I shut the power off to the PC and tried it again to the same response. I'm worried I may have ruined the motherboard, but everything still powers on fine. I just can't get to the bios. The motherboard has a debug LED that highlights the CPU having an issue, but with no kind of beeping or post code, I have no clue what is wrong. This LED is on during the flash and whenever I try to boot it normally. I'm worried about having to do something like replacing the bios chip. Maybe I can't return it for a new one from Newegg again? Had to replace it once already when the shipper stabbed a massive hole through the packaging and the board. I finally managed to get a 3060 to replace my 980 ti and now it's not even the graphics card holding me back...

If you've already attempted to reset the CMOS as per your manual instructions, it's best to give it another try. I faced a similar issue with the MSI b450i gaming edge when I accidentally turned on fast boot, which completely removed the motherboard. You can attempt to boot directly into BIOS using Windows (search for the method). If the Security -> Windows UEFI firmware option isn't effective, explore the elevated command prompt route to boot into BIOS, which proved successful for me. Wishing you success and a resolved issue. These MSI boards have generally been problematic based on my experience.

Which USB port are you connecting the USB stick to? What name did you change the BIOS file with? Are your CPU and components properly seated in their slots? Proceed through these steps if you're not familiar with the process.

I connected the USB to the manufacturer’s port for the BIOS flash. I downloaded the latest BIOS update, extracted it, and renamed the file to MSI.ROM, then placed it on a freshly formatted USB drive using FAT32. Initially, I installed the BIOS update with the CPU together, but later I tried without the CPU connected except the power supply. The system started up normally, yet I’m still unsure if something is wrong. Could be the update succeeded but the CPU has a problem? There’s no widespread mention of a bios update light stuck blinking endlessly online.

Attempted to reset the CMOS and similar settings, but it didn’t work. Currently, I’m unable to receive any signals from the PC to access the BIOS. I’m considering purchasing a new processor or checking with a local repair shop for assistance. This is only my second-built PC, and my first motherboard failed completely. I’m hoping this isn’t due to my own mistakes.

If you owned Intel earlier, ensure your screen connects to the GPU rather than the motherboard. AMD typically lacks built-in graphics on most CPUs, including the 5600X. On the motherboard's right side, above the 24-pin connector, you'll find LEDs labeled "CPU," "RAM," "VGA," and "BOOT." When attempting to POST, do you see any of these lights up?

My old Intel CPU is working. I accidentally connected the HDMI cable to the motherboard, but later tried using a GPU. The debug LED above the 24-pin lights up for both BIOS flashing and power-up, except when nothing is plugged in. It turns on again once everything is reassembled and I attempt to boot.

It gives the impression you're attempting to activate the system.

Pressing the flashback button causes the system to boot up slightly. The RGB lighting activates, and any connected fans or devices also light up. However, the GPU remains inactive.
