You probably don’t need a BIOS update for those chips, but it’s good to check the manufacturer’s site or ASRock support page for any recommendations. To get the update, follow the instructions on the BIOS setup screen—usually you’ll need to restart your PC and enter the update mode. You won’t need a different CPU for this. When the stock is brand new, it’s likely to align with the AGESA code for Zen 2. Most B450 boards come pre-installed with this setup. If it doesn’t, you can have it installed by a local electronics shop.

Are you working with this configuration now? Or will you be using it later? If you are using it already, we don’t need to update you. If not: you’ll need to transfer it to a thumb drive from the website for the motherboard. Make sure your CPU matches the board—any first or second generation Ryzen chip will work. You can locate useful instructions on YouTube about updating an ASRock BIOS. Occasionally, you might find a B450 board that advertises third generation support, which could be a good chance.
