Update GPU for streaming rig
Update GPU for streaming rig
It's been a lively session since logging in, seeking advice on getting the most value for money:
I'm planning to stream using a second rig while keeping my main on for now, as I already have it sitting idle. All my rigs are set up in their standard configurations.
For an upgraded GPU compared to the R9 270x for online streaming, my considerations are: 6600 versus B570; 8GB versus 10GB.
1 – I aim to stay budget-friendly, so premium options are out (especially given the current market).
2 – The motherboard has some suboptimal connector placement, and I have limited space for modern GPUs to fit from the single PCIe 16 slot to the bottom connectors.
If your main goal is to stream online content, I’d suggest selling your R9 270x and the 3700X (once the BIOS is updated), then using the proceeds to buy an AMD 5600G processor. Keep the rest unchanged.
A 5600G or 5700G can be a good choice due to reduced heat, power consumption, and complexity. However, if you need a dedicated GPU, the B570 is a better option when available at its MSRP. It outperforms the RX 6600, offers more VRAM, and is newer. You're also leveraging a system that supports above 4g encoding and resizable bar, which are essential for maximizing performance from Intel's Arc GPU.
