You can set up your MacBook to sync with a Mac Pro using shared folders or cloud services, ensuring certain directories stay updated in real time.

Here are standard options like Dropbox. You also have app store tools for keeping files on your device, avoiding cloud storage. If you're comfortable with the command line, rsync is a built-in macOS utility. Keep in mind none offer true real-time sync by default. Network transfers will be slower, with delays based on speed and file size. ~Note: For near-instant sync, consider a network drive connected to both computers, ensuring files stay consistent without manual updates.

Apple developed iCloud for this purpose or you may utilize a file server (such as netatalk).

Syncthing is the top choice, uploading to iCloud and controlling sync remotely can cause delays. For just two devices without cloud, syncthing on the local network is clearly the best option.
