Update China 2011v3 with modern solutions for efficiency Compare with fresh platforms designed to boost productivity
Hello, there is still hope for old post server stuff like 2011v3? I'm thinking about 14 cores 28 threads CPU (possible unlock turbo on all cores) or even dual CPU in E-ATX mobo that will handle 28C/56T and quad channel DDR4 ECC. Second option is just get new Ry zen 5700X 8C16T make a decent OC and pair with dual non-ECC RAM. Budget around 400$ for mobo, CPU and memory. I will use it only for productivity like Davinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere , Photoshop and Lightroom with some modern plugins/software powered by AI who use both GPU and CPU for rendering. Thank You for help.
For tasks that benefit from a used 5700x, opting for a higher-end old Threadripper CPU and motherboard at a lower price (around $399) can be advantageous for multicore applications. Threadripper remains widely used, especially in earlier generations, which may limit your options if you need a budget-friendly setup.
R] just nope. This platform have a lot of potential problems without guarantee and support. It's not as fast without turbo core unlocked (full speed on all core same time) wich is also problematic and rise TDP dramatically only solution is undervoltage. Dual CPU X99 need well paired CPUs and RAM also can't give 2x ratio increase performance over single CPU. It's mostly for enthusiasts who likes recycle and "moar cores" - like me, but I will not sacrifice it in main PC over stability and performance but most important safeness.
@NF-A12x25 yes You are right. Maybe patience for lowering prices of DDR4 and 5700 after CES 2023. AMD, will release 7600 without X in Q1 of 2023. @Radium_Angel I just watched his video about Chinese X99 in 2022 and... he clearly admit it's only relevant for ultra budget gaming based on X79 and more expensive ready for newer CPUs X99 only for PCI-E lanes and RAM heavy workloads, so answer is simple. I've tested a Chinese salvage setup before as a light experiment, but pushing them too much makes them unstable. My main rig is a dual e5-2643 v2 Xeon workstation from Dell (T7610) with 12 cores, 24 threads, and 512GB ECC RAM. It runs games fine, though modern settings won't get full graphics performance.
