Sorry but I'm just expressing my concerns. I delayed installing 24H2 as long as possible, but it now auto-installed on my PC without any effort. Previously, I managed to stop updates by keeping the Explorer Patcher active, but now it installs regardless of that. It's causing several issues and making things that worked before stop functioning. Programs in Startup no longer launch, and even dragging them into the startup folder doesn't create shortcuts—it just moves the file instead. I discovered you can use ALT + drag to create a shortcut, but it still doesn't work properly. Grrrr
Microsoft has been modifying their operating systems since Windows 8, or when they treated their OS like one intended for mobile rather than a desktop. It's recommended to keep a backup of all essential data and try performing a system restore before the update if you wish to revert to the previous state.
It's interesting how the rest of the world, including me, operates smoothly without problems. The issue seems more likely inside the Windows system you were upgrading from—particularly if you use many apps or drivers that aren't compatible with Windows 11. I recommend performing a System Restore before the 24H2 upgrade and then executing the following commands sequentially...
