Looking at GTA V's rollout on PC: March 24th – PC trailer, March 31st – video for Videomakers, April 7th – PC launch trailer, April 14th – official release. This is just speculation. How do you imagine Rockstar managing the upcoming Tuesday announcements? Tuesdays are usually when they drop game news. Also, the game will appear in pre-load on Steam; when will we be able to start pre-loading?

It seems these items are becoming more common in retail, unlike in the past for the PC version.

I’m unsure about buying it after all the questionable moves they made with the PC version. *Dons tinfoil hat* Launching it on PC two years after the console release seems like a mistake. It looks like they’re mainly trying to boost sales. Get it on 7th-gen consoles at launch, then wait for the better version on 8th-gen ones, and finally opt for the top-tier PC release. I’m really against this approach. Unless there’s been significant effort—like two developers working on the PC port and one taking a year off—it makes little sense to delay the PC release so much. With the 8th-gen hardware being so similar, they should have prioritized quality over timing.

I'm curious about their effectiveness. Even if retailers receive them ahead of time, can they be triggered before the game is launched?

This has nothing to do with anything. Think about how things changed back in 2013 when there were posters for GTAV coming in spring—then it got pushed to fall. Depending on the platform, if you had a Steam code, it could be used to unlock the game on release day, similar to a preorder. Otherwise, it might not activate at all until launch.

I think they might be Steam keys, so I assume they’d function prior to the game’s launch.

They came even earlier than the 27-day window before the release date.

Also, the final postponement was revealed a month prior to the planned launch.
