I’m planning to set up a new computer in the coming months and want to know what protection options are best. Right now I’m using AVG 2015, MalwareBytes, and Cleaner—just the basics. I’m looking for more advanced antivirus solutions or additional security tools to enhance protection.

I might switch to the premium options if needed, but my main goal is to ensure my computer stays protected.

I haven't met anyone who has ever paid. As long as you stay careful, things should work out.

I've relied on Avast Anti-Virus and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for a long time; they've performed exceptionally well. (Occasionally some viruses appeared, but they were quickly resolved)

Since Vista (Windows 7, 8, and now 10) became the standard, security has mostly shifted to basic antivirus protection. The main risk comes when someone tries to convince you to approve changes without realizing it or exploits that no antivirus can stop. In short, unless you're careless, Windows Defender should suffice, and extra steps aren't necessary. If you fall for a trick, even the best antivirus won't help.

I haven't installed any antivirus since... Wow, I have no idea... 2004? Maybe.
